Our first time at Gagosian Beverly Hills was definitely an experience. I stumbled across the “CLEAR” exhibit taking my friends on a tour of LA. Glad I stopped in here. Don’t you just love when art is different than you are used to? I mean like yeah there is paint, canvas and color. We get it. But sometimes you’re looking for more of a thinker’s art piece. One that makes you say “What was the artist REALLY thinking when he made this?”. CLEAR had all of that.
Upon entrance the doorman, yes doorman, was very welcoming and that’s kinda rare, at least for me (laughs). We get in there and immediate we notice a big ass silver transformer masterpiece that sat in the center of the show. (“The Slim Reaper”.2014 by Dan Colen) It was an amazing first look piece! I just knew then that I was in for a show. You can see the variety in all of the artwork from the featured artists. You could also see a common theme between them all. I interpreted Galactica.
I dont know why but the whole atmosphere felt like a art video game. Shapes and blurred lines, Labeled Jars of Alchemy and spinning flipping triangles that are sure to bring a feel of the 70s to any room! This show is definitely a must see if you want a step away from the traditional paint-to-canvas style of artwork. Gagosian is known for being top notch in art exhibition. Glad we got a chance to see what the fuss was about. We will be back for another show!
