I first met Jerry Puryear in 2004 while working at Saint Joseph’s University and immediately noticed that he was a creative brother, we instantly clicked and spent many days at work cracking jokes with our co-workers and friends at the job. With moving around and life hitting us both, I lost touch with Jerry for many years.
Through the wonderful thing called technology I was able to link back up with my longtime buddy and seen that he started to dabble in the arts, and I don’t mean just dabble I mean Jerry was dope! He showed pictures of paintings he did of celebrities, historic figures and family portraits and I was blown away! He has a very unique painting style that I absolutely love. It’s as if he is painting from a hippie-1970s mind frame that encompasses the Blaxploitation era, civil rights history and deep intuitive colors that stand out immediately.
My favorite piece is the one of JFK being that he is my favorite president and the colors on it are amazing!. Jerry is currently working with his manager Danielle Green on amazing projects. With Indigo Blue Design Concepts they have held art shows and galleries and a host of events to help promote art and awareness throughout the city of Philadelphia and are looking to branch out much further. Make sure to check out some of Jerry’s work below, you’ll instantly become a fan!
