Today I had the opportunity to visit the studio of the amazing Kenturah Davis (Instagram: @kenturah). Her work and process has excited my intellect for a while because of its endless personality within. You literally don’t know when it starts or stops and it lends itself to the workings of a book how the pages come together.. I initially looked upon the work as a portrait-crossword, with the words in the background telling the story of the subject which most of the work was dedicated to.

Talking about art authenticity, art fairs, biennales and collectors, I got to understand the artists behind the work that much more and look forward to seeing and photographing new works inside the galleries and in the public. Her knowledge and subtlety really speak to softness and careful attention in her work. With Kenturah, the singularity of the work is directed toward a community in so many ways, with single drawings coming together for the “greater good” of a whole series.
